I just wanted to thank your organization for an amazing job working with my son this summer. He had never played hockey before and could barely skate. But your instructors were so kind, motivating and skilled that after a week, my son began loving hockey. The camp ratio was incredible as it was 2 instructors for 5 kids. It was very professional and ran smoothly. Well worth the cost of the camp and I would highly, highly recommend Tucker to anyone. We’ve been to a lot of other camps for our older son and have never had instructors as engaged, and friendly as yours. Often you get a ‘drill sergeant ‘ type of instructor with some other organizations and I found that does nothing to engage the kids and have them feeling good about the sport of hockey. Even watching the other instructors with the older kids, they were never cold and tough - but light-hearted, hard working and highly skilled. It was delightful to see everyone smiling and I find you always get more with honey than vinegar. So thank you again for being so wonderful!
The Todd Family – Summer 2020,
We just wanted to thank you so much for everything you’ve done for James this year. You are an exceptional coach and your knowledge, patience and kindness have been invaluable to James’s growth. Thank you for providing such a positive environment for James to grow as both a hockey player and a young man. You are much appreciated. Seeing James move from a hesitant 3 on 3 player to a first line peewee aa player is so touching. Where most coaches would have laughed at the notion of James playing hockey with little to no experience, you embraced him and played on his skill set to enable him to flourish. Thanks so much
Sarah & Anthony P., Parents of James , Winter 2020
"I'm sorry I don't know the names of the instructors but I will describe him as a 'little man with a big stick' - he was excellent with my son Kai."
"I learned a lot during the 10-week Adult program. Ron was always very clear in his instruction, and his ability to demonstrate a skill in slow motion was unbelievable. Rex always had short and to-the point advice "Back straight! Look up!" which was exactly what was needed. Jimmy gave me a lot of extremely useful insight and positive reinforcement. I would like to adopt Jimmy as my new step dad." ~Ivan D.
My son absolutely thrived under Rex's coaching. Even though there was a variety of ages on the ice with my son being the youngest, he had a blast. The atmosphere was fun, focused on individual skill development, and all the kids improved. The player to coach ratio was phenomenal and way better than I have seen with other camps offered around the city. I can't recommend Tucker Hockey enough, we will definitely be signing up for more classes.
Heather V, Mother to Felix
Rex has an incredible passion and dedication for hockey, and his primary thrust is to help people who want to learn the game, no matter how old they are. And he goes about it quietly and without fanfare.

“I'm sorry I don't know the names of the instructors but I will describe him as a 'little man with a big stick' - he was excellent with my son Kai.”
~ Carber G, Father to Kai - Summer 2018“The on-ice curriculum is great and very fast paced. Brandt loves it. I am sure that you are aware of how fortunate you are to have an instructor like Dave Mahoney, it is rare to find an employee who represents his employer as if he owned the business himself. I really can't say enough about Dave, quality guy! Both Dave and Frank are excellent. As Dave leads the drills Frank is there watching for anybody struggling with the drill and giving extra instruction. We have been to other programs, but to me, nothing compares to the instructors at Tucker. We haven't had a negative experience to date and I don't expect that we will in the future. As I have said before, Brandt loves it and the instructors keep us coming back.”
~ Mark P, Father to BrandtAfter a mediocre year of coaching from his minor hockey association, my son still developed from his weekly morning experience with both of you. He never complained about the 5:45 am wake up to see you guys. Both of you have been a huge part of his development and love for the game over the years. We will always make it a priority to involve your program in his development. We can't thank you enough!
Mehbs A., Father to Armaan
All of the instructors were very skilled, and it was obvious they love working with kids and sharing their love for the game. My son came away a far better skater than when he went in.
Chris H., Father to Michael
My son's most recent clinic was the shooting clinic. He felt it was really good and I was very happy with the interaction with the coaches and the fact that there were so many coaches available to help. It met his expectations and his shot has improved heading into this year.
Excellent Puck Control Clinic! “Would highly recommend and my 9-year-old son Luke had fun and was eager to go each day….very Professional and experienced coaches who took their time with each kid. Much appreciated!! We will definitely do a Tucker Hockey clinic again!”
Renee and James V., Parents to Luke
We expect a high level of quality instruction and an excellent learning environment in Tucker Programs and were not disappointed again this year…excellent training - thank you!
Pamela F., Mother to Ezra
I think it is always great, my kids have done a few sessions with Tucker over the past few years and are top skaters in their association.
Jamey M., Mother to Alix & Jordan
All the drills were geared around the areas that the group needed to work on. I was impressed with how much my son improved.... especially his back-skating & puck control! After participating in this camp, I noticed a HUGE improvement in my son’s skating and his game. His confidence has grown and as a result, he has become a better player.
Paul R., Father to Griffin
The on-ice instruction was excellent. Kids are always moving and participating in drills, very little down time. Conditioning camp provided good instruction on stretching before any physical activity. It also it taught them how important having a strong core is for hockey or any other sporty they participate in.
I thought the Tucker checking program was excellent. Very safe and an excellent progression based on fundamentals. My son told me after the first one-hour session, "I just learned more with Rex Tucker in an hour than I learned in the full-week hockey camp at Winsport!
The caliber of instruction is fantastic, and the pace of progression was just right. I noticed improvement after each and every lesson.
Sean David, Adult Recreational Player
Excellent group of instructors. All patient, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making the Tucker Experience a great one. You definitely come out better than when you went in. Cannot say enough about your programs.
Rob Pryde, Adult Hockey Participant
I've taken the adult level 101 group session, as a young 51 year-old who took up hockey 3 years ago. I would highly recommend this course. Learning to develop inside/outside edges, backwards to forwards skating, crossover/crossunders, puck control. Rex tucker and his instructors are very capable in teaching all your hockey needs.
Dean Lardeur, Adult Recreational Player
Taking the adult fundamentals course was a game changer to start my season off on the right skate. It confirmed what I was doing well and also what I had to work on. I was able to take the ideas back to my game and make every subsequent skate an intentional improvement because I had the proper technique. Great to know that as an adult, we can all still improve.
Jennifer Zieglgansberger, Adult Recreational Player
The kids seemed engaged at all times, unlike community hockey when kids are often standing around waiting for their turn. This was our 1st Tucker Hockey 3 on 3 and it was exciting for the kids and the parents.
Shae Farley, Minor Hockey Parent
I thought that the sessions were very well run, focusing on working the proper skill sets, especially the power skating in showing the fundamentals of edge control, proper body position, effective stride length and the importance of balance. These very important fundamental skills that are normally lacking and or not executed well by hockey schools, I was very pleased with how Tucker Hockey delivered these to the group and especially to my son, Adam. Thank you again for a job well done and I have no problem recommending Tucker Hockey.
We had Rex Tucker work with our Minor Team...the kids absolutely loved it! I would recommend Tucker Hockey to other coaches because the skating abilities have changed in hockey now. I would definitely have Rex back to instruct another class with our group of kids. Rex makes it fun for the kids and I know this for a fact because my kid prior to him going to Tucker Hockey didn’t want to go to power skating, it wasn’t fun for him, so we ended up signing him up for Tucker Hockey for a power skating group and since he’s signed up... this is his fourth or fifth year going and he just loves to go back!
Derek Dunn, Minor Hockey Coach & Parent
During the mid-season break between games, we were looking for a fresh voice and new experience for our senior Timbits team. We called Mr. Tucker and asked him to come out and work with our kids for two sessions. Mr. Tucker worked with both our coaches and kids in a respectful, upbeat and positive way that not only integrated with the coach's program, but was fun and energetic for the kids. Our coaches are great, and we are lucky to have them however there is a noticeable difference in the work of a professional coach like Mr. Tucker. Our kids have seen a power skating Coach, but Mr. Tucker's sessions brought more than skating as he consistently integrated hockey fundamentals into his drills and games as well as skating. The parents were also thrilled, and we look forward to our next session with Tucker Hockey which we plan to have very soon.”
Aris dePeuter, Manager - McKnight Senior Timbits
The customization aspect of the sessions has been great for us. Rex was diligent in seeking out feedback and customized
each session based on what we wanted to learn. In addition to the skating and hockey skills, we really wanted to learn
positional play. We are learning to play our positions properly, which has helped immensely, and allows us to have more
fun on the ice… The sessions have been one of the best things we have ever done. The feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly positive. Best of all, we are playing better as a team, having more fun and winning more games!
Almost none of us have a background playing hockey, so this experience was the first formal instruction many of us
received. In a short amount of time, we received a strong foundation of hockey fundamentals which we can build
upon. There is only so much you can improve on your own without formal instruction. The Tucker Hockey experience
brought us together as a team and reinvigorated our desire to improve
Gerry Kim, Rice Kings Adult Recreational Hockey Team
Connor made the Div 2 Peewee team...we owe much of that to you guys at Tucker Hockey...
he only started skating two years ago. When he first stepped out onto the ice for his first year of Atom
hockey he could barely take 3 steps without falling; let alone shoot the puck. Each year he’s made pretty
significant leaps and finally this year he’s wound up on a team where most of the kids have six or more
years of experience. It’s a little bitter sweet as he’s left a lot of his old teammates behind but this shy, quiet,
ADHD kid is really starting to feel good about him self and is seeing the dividends of hard work (life lesson?).
Connor always has a great time with you guys, loves the instructors and asks for more training. As parents,
we’re witnessing a pretty remarkable transformation in hockey and more importantly, who he’s becoming as
a person. We’ll be sure to continue supplementing his team development with your programs and camps...
thanks again.
Dan Argento, Minor Hockey Parent
Rex's natural talent as motivator, as an educator, and as a professional business person are evident in all of Rex's Tucker Hockey programs. Rex's passion for hockey and willingness to share that passion, through Tucker Hockey's mission statement, continually enable recreational hockey players to improve fitness, skill, and team play. The product Rex puts on the ice is recognized, as evidenced in years of happy, repeat participants.” Furthermore, I would recommend Rex for any business development challenge, from start-up, through marketing and sales development and brand growth, on to business operations. Rex is an excellent business person when it comes to finding a market niche and filling it with high-value services.
What a great weekend of hockey at Springdale Stadium. The Tucker hockey camp has been a great experience for the players and the coaches. The skating, puck handling and shooting skills the players have learned through this camp can now be used in their minor hockey practices and games. Also, the things our coaches have learned from working with Rex Tucker have been tremendous. Just the opportunity to work with such a professional has been great and the skills that our coaches have learned through this camp can now be taught to all the great kids of SDMHA. One of the things that Rex said about the weekend was that the kids of SDMHA were a pleasure to work with.
Jamie Tizzard, Past President Springdale District Minor Hockey Association, Springdale, Newfoundland
Rex is very knowledgeable and possesses exceptional coaching and mentoring skills. His understanding of
the game of hockey is unquestionably ranked at the “Expert” level. We are very fortunate to have Rex in our
hockey community!

Our son Levi was an enthusiastic Peewee 5 hockey player in 2009. Levi struggled with his balance and because of that, was always on the wrong side of the cut following evaluations. We asked around, “Who could give our boy power skating lessons and help him with his stride, balance and confidence?” Rex Tucker was the name we heard a few times and after a brief phone conversation with Rex - Levi was on the ice with him. Rex was patient with Levi but also firm with his direction and coaching. We all knew that Levi was well behind the curve but his energy and the clear guidance of Rex began to work together. Each week we could see small improvements and after three short months a “Bum down - head up!” Levi began to stride around the rink. It was really fun to watch the change. Today, Levi plays Bantam AAA for the Pursuit of Excellence Academy in Kelowna BC. He is a strong, agile power forward and his team is ranked #2 in Western Canada. Levi has just been accepted to play Midget AAA for the Notre Dame Hounds for the 2012/13 season. There is no doubt in our minds that Rex Tucker is a very large part of this success story. If you or anyone you know is looking for a motivated, insightful and encouraging power skating coach, look no further than Rex Tucker. We give him our strongest recommendation.
Tim & Dawn Johnson, April 2012
Rex offers a very high quality, flexible, high intensity and elite training program. Through my time in his program I have learned a lot about the game and have had tremendous improvements. The 1 on 1 instruction allows me to really focus on the little details and deficiencies in my game that I otherwise couldn’t work on in team practices. My skating has greatly improved, and Rex has also enhanced my hockey IQ quite a bit. My stick handling, shooting and passing ability have also taken big strides forward. It has also taught me some management and personal assessment as I design my own program.
